Having researched and studied many of the ‘diets’ in modern day society – it is no wonder that most of us feel lost, mis-guided and generally confused with what we should be eating. Unfortunately we are still advised to follow a ‘one size fits all’ approach to eating, a concept that does not work to our advantage.
Should you count your calories? What is clean eating? How do you build a basic diet? What about vegan diets, flexible dieting, carb loading, carb cycling and intermittent fasting?
The options seem endless, where do you start?!
My philosophy is to educate you in the world of nutrition. By building an understanding a knowledge, you can make educated and informed choices.
I believe that several basic food rules exist that apply to everyone. Consume fresh, locally sourced and organic produce within your budget, kick out the processed food, lower sugar and increase healthy fat sources (yes, increasing fat… No, it won’t make you fat!) Individual nutritional requirements will of course differ from person to person, but we can explore that in more depth when we get started. My approach is simple, research-based and easy to apply. I do not believe in the word diet; it generally implies a short-term fix as opposed to a long-term healthy and sustainable change.
Nutrition packages are available as part of Personal Training programmes, or also separately in order to focus on structuring a balanced dietary intake of food with optimal health in mind.
Strategies can be tailored towards a whole spectrum of goals including weight loss, sports performance or using food to support health issues.
